I've laid the dwarves pipes perfectly, but when I go back to talk to the chief and click on the pipe question box, he simply repeats the instructions. When I return to the toolbox, all my work has been undone. What's up with that? :mur:

The chief repeat his instructions because you didn't fill the water system. You have to fill the 4 citerns and choose the good coloured stones. Repear the pipes is not the only thing he asked you!

But did you hear the success music at the end of the pipes puzzle ? If not, you have to do it again, I'm sorry... If you are sure to be right and you don't hear the music, just clic on several pipes, the programmation is a little bit slow for this puzzle...

Yes I finally heard the success music, and I filled the four cisterns, etc., but now something else is happening that is very strange. When I try to save the game at various points, it gets saved to the beginning of the whole game!!! Can you explain why this is happening? I can't make any progress. :helppan:

Did you use Ccleaner to clean your cookies today ? Careful, you have to read instructions about that : http://www.amertis.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=38

Or maybe you moved one file from your Amertis folder ?

Razi: if ziggy had wiped out his cookies, he wouldn't have any save files to reload from anyway.

Ziggy : a few questions (you know my methods...) to try and get a better idea :
* do you mean that now, when you save a game and then reload from that file, you start again in Rodrigue's office ???
* what about your "old" save files ? Do they still work properly ?
* on your new save files (made in the Dwarves world) , what image do you see ? The windmill, or the house ?
* what computer and OS do you work with ?

Anyway, try this: when you relaunch the game, simply do a "return to the current game", and see where that puts you. There is a hidden feature in Amertis : when you quit the game, it gets automatically saved where you were, as an extra save file that you don't see. Let's see it that works.

I must say this is quite extraordinary. We've reached 10,000 downloads of the game, meaning more than a hundred thousand games saved already, and nobody has ever mentioned this problem. This seems really odd...

Axolotl, to answer your questions:

Yes, in dwarves world, ever since I laid the pipes, every save takes me back to Rodrigue's office and the ringing telephone.

I have 3 "old" saved files - one each from the house, injun world and bimbo world. These still work properly. But every recent attempt to save a game in dwarves world takes me back to the beginning of the game. The icon is always that of the house. "Return to the game also takes me back to square one in the house, since this was the last game I tried to open? save?

I have a Sony Vaio laptop running on Windows XP. I tried excluding the save folder from the Ccleaner as instructed when I first began playing, but this didn't work (my saved games disappeared) so I uninstalled Ccleaner, Iobit security, RegClean, etc. - all of them. I then started the game again, and was able to save house, injuns and bimbos. As I said, this problem arose only when I was nearly through dwarves. I suppose I could try going back to one of the old saved games and proceeding from there into dwarves world from the beginning again. What do you suggest?

I'm stumped, but then, I'm not the developer... Razi is. Let's see what he says, and whether he can find a possible explanation to such a one-in-a-million phenomenon !

In the meanwhile, here's a suggestion for further investigations using an experimental approach, plus a possible "workaround":

1/ reload from your most recent "good" save (which, as I understand it, is NOT in the Dwarves World)

2/ do a few things around, whatever, and save in that very same world , and then check whether that new save file is still good. This is to confirm that only saves in the Dwarf World are corrupted (I'm not sure you have been definite about this)

3/ keep doing a few things, anything, walking around, and quit the game WITHOUT SAVING. Then, relaunch the game by selecting "Return to the current game". I'd like to make sure this automatic save is still working...

4/ Then, move on to the Dwarves World, and do those same experiments BEFORE laying the pipes. If the save files work, we will have narrowed down the problem a bit.

5/ And then, try again saving (and checking the "automatic save") AFTER laying the pipes. If the automatic save works, fine, you will be able to progress again in the game, and give time to Razi to find what it's all about !

Let's hope we get a better view that way. So far, the pipe-laying is only a potential suspect, but as you know, coincidences happen, simultaneity does not necessarily mean causality, etc.

Well, this is a sort of great puzzle within the game, this "saving" problem, don't you think? ;)

:?: :?: :cherche:

I don't understand what happens with your saves, Ziggy. Probably one file (save.swf or load.swf) is missing or altered?
The only thing you can do is to download the whole game once more. Your old saves will not be erased, you'll be able to play from the last spot you saved.

Thanks for all your help and suggestions, Razi and Axolotl. I'll try them all. The problem arose on my PC in Massachusette, and now I'm in New York for a week, where I have a Mac OSX, so here's what I propose to do: while I'm here I'll download Amertis onto my Mac and start from scratch; then, when I'm back in Massachusetts next week, I'll try your suggestions. Yes, this puzzle is almost as much fun as the game itself! To be continued . . . :merci:

Do you know you can copy your PC saves into your Mac ? Just begin a new game with your Mac, to create the "localhost" folder. Then, copy the files from your localhost PC folder towards the localhost Mac folder. ;)

Thanks, Razi, but I don't know what you're talking about - I'm afraid I'm computer-illiterate :honte: What is localhost folder, and where would I find it in either computer? I have no way of communicating between my Mac and my PC in another state. :chsaispas:

I'm sure you've got a USB key! You can also send your PC files via the internet.
